As an innovative industry leader in orthopedic devices and connected services, Zimmer Biomet makes progress possible for patients that have endured a loss of mobility

A primary design goal with the new website was to compel brand connection through focused usability and clear communications, and establish Zimmer Biomet as a global, innovative company with a deep heritage and commitment to patient outcomes.

We work closely with the client to craft a set of components built using atomic design in order to produce a full set of templates and unique page types meant to tell a range of narratives around products, services, and values to an assortment of audiences with tailored needs and expectations.

Process

During the design theme process, a range of digital and print materials were reviewed to identify where visual design is, and isn’t, well-aligned with existing Zimmer Biomet branding and experiences.

Design System

Color themes were developed to cater to different audiences
Color themes were developed to cater to different audiences. The goal was that each audience type would become accustomed to each theme and be able to more easily identify what kind of content they were engaging with at a glance.
Detailed interaction specifications were iteratively developed into the design system as a collaborative effort over the development process
These details are the hardest to get right, but worth it in the long run.
Components and templates were developed for varying audience segments and business functions to highlight the connectivity of products with continued learning in the field osteopathy
Pages were setup as a CMS with the explicit intent so that the client could author their own products, events, etc. and keep the ever-changing healthcare / legal requirements up-to-date on their site without needing to continuously go back to development.
Zimmer Biomet® was designed and built as a mobile-first product hub for sales reps and surgeons to quickly find what they need with clear communitication and focused interaction.

Continued Development

A core pillar of this initiative was to, over time, bring other ZB orgs' independently built microsites into fold of the new approach to create a cohesive experience across the company
Additional services were designed and built using the same design system to support various internal needs and external services provided by Zimmer Biomet.
Find a Doctor is a core function to Zimmer Biomet's services for patient facing engagement.
ZB Trauma Portal was developed for sales reps to be able to find and provide the correct parts in the moment of surgical need in the field in real time with no friction.
